There are a couple of alternative project management apps that I would recommend you look at in the OSS domain:

&lt;a href="http://www.dotproject.net/" rel="nofollow"&gt;dotproject&lt;/a&gt; (web based, php application - great for multiple users/team working etc...)

&lt;a&gt;Planner&lt;/a&gt; (Gnome based desktop PMS - similar to MS Project)
